About the position

The Certified Athletic Trainer will provide comprehensive athletic training services to local school districts and businesses, ensuring the health and safety of athletes during practices and events. This role involves developing emergency action plans, maintaining medical records, and supervising wellness center operations, while also educating clients and families on health and exercise principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day athletic training services to local school districts and businesses.
  • Develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all interscholastic athletic practices and events.
  • Establish and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies and equipment.
  • Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training program at schools and in the Wellness Center.
  • Develop comprehensive venue and condition-specific emergency action plans.
  • Initiate and administer an athletic training student-aid program in accordance with school guidelines and state law.
  • Establish working relationships with designated team physicians and community physicians.
  • Establish working relationships with school nursing staff.
  • Complete school systems policies training, including Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan training.
  • Maintain adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures.
  • Comply with policies regarding health care delivery as indicated by school systems regulations.
  • Develop professional development for coaches on CPR/AED, Concussion, Heat Illness, Sudden Cardiac Death, etc.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, orientation, and programming for the wellness center.
  • Accurately review all client paperwork as part of membership or program participation.
  • Teach safe and effective use of equipment and exercises, providing appropriate modifications and options.
  • Design, explain, and evaluate all exercise programs to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Maintain facility security and safety, reporting equipment/facility maintenance problems.
  • Design, implement, and teach exercise classes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of facility and equipment.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of the facility.
  • Implement safe and effective exercise programs to improve functional ability and prevent weight gain.
  • Conduct initial orientation of clients by preparing individual exercise prescriptions.
  • Work directly with clients regarding programming and customer service to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in the process of selling new program services and programs.
  • Develop and provide patient/family education to facilitate achievement of goals for clients.
  • Accurately report client's progress to appropriate disciplines via staff meetings and communications with peers.
  • Participate within multidisciplinary teams to develop educational materials and resources.
  • Provide in-service education to peers or other disciplines, as approved.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related field.
  • Preferred experience in the Health/Wellness industry.
