About the position

As a Certified Central Sterile Tech at Reston Surgery Center, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients by meticulously cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing all reusable surgical instruments. Your attention to detail and dedication are vital in delivering the highest standard of care, as you prepare and provide necessary instruments for surgeries and other hospital departments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning.
• Identify tray type by contents of instrument tray.
• Identify malfunctioning instruments and replace or report instruments that need repair or are missing.
• Operate and maintain all sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, and cart washers.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all washing, sterilization, daily machine testing, and other relevant records.
• Prepare, assemble, and package all instruments for surgery and other hospital departments.
• Prepare surgical sets, instruments, and trays according to prescribed procedures, ensuring accuracy.
• Pull customized case cart sheets for all surgical procedures and prepare case carts.
• Inventory, maintain, and supply OR storage areas, specialty lockers, carts, and equipment used.
• Audit trays for decontamination, washing, assembly, sterilization, and instrument count sheets.

Requirements

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) certification required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
