About the position

The position involves performing a variety of office duties to assist the physician in office procedures, patient communication, completing necessary paperwork, and scheduling and referring patients for tests and treatments. Alternatively, the role may function as a clinic assistant under the direction, guidance, and supervision of a licensed physician or nurse, assisting in planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients in coordination with other health disciplines. Responsibilities include preparing patients and assisting the physician with minor surgical procedures, taking vitals such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, maintaining inventory of supplies, and sterilizing instruments and equipment. The role may also involve completing lab tests and/or x-rays within the scope of CMA credentials. Certification from a nationally approved accreditation body is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician in office procedures and patient communication.
• Complete necessary paperwork and schedule patients for tests and treatments.
• Function as a clinic assistant under the supervision of a licensed physician or nurse.
• Prepare patients and assist the physician with minor surgical procedures.
• Take patient vitals including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and sterilize instruments and equipment.
• Complete lab tests and/or x-rays as per CMA credentials.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certificate required within 3 months of hire.
• Current BLS certification.
• One year prior medical assisting experience preferred.
