About the position

The Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) position at North Florida Rehabilitation Hospital is a vital role focused on providing specialized care to patients undergoing renal replacement therapy. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to superior patient care in a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility. The role involves performing patient assessments, administering dialysis treatments, and educating patients and staff about treatment plans and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
  • Demonstrate competent skills to perform renal replacement therapy treatments per nephrologist orders.
  • Assist in preparing dialysis treatment areas with needed supplies prior to starting treatments.
  • Ensures dialysis machines and equipment are maintained in good working order per policy.
  • Provides patient and family teaching as it pertains to the treatment plan, procedures, and preventative measures throughout the rehabilitation stay and prior to discharge.
  • Provides education to the clinical staff as it pertains to the treatment plan, procedures, and preventative measures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Bachelor or Associate school of nursing and a current state license to practice nursing.
  • At least 2 years of current experience in the specialty OR Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) certification.
  • Current BLS required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
  • Must be able to safely operate dialysis machines.
