About the position

The Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) at Waters of Gallatin is responsible for assisting the Dietitian in planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department. This role ensures that quality nutritional services are provided daily while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local standards. The CDM will coordinate dietary services with other departments and assist in developing dietary plans tailored to residents' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates dietary services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, etc.)
  • Assists the dietary staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Assists in developing preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the dietary needs of each resident
  • Assists in developing a written dietary plan of care that identifies dietary problems/needs and goals for each resident
  • Assists in scheduling care plans and assessments for committee meetings
  • Ensures all dietary personnel are aware of the care plan and its use in daily dietary services
  • Ensures care plans identify any special equipment and utensils needed by residents
  • Reviews and revises care plans and assessments as necessary, at least quarterly
  • Provides substitute foods of similar nutritive value to residents who refuse served foods
  • Competent in the use and maintenance of kitchen equipment
  • Inspects food storage rooms and utility/janitorial closets for upkeep and supply control
  • Processes diet changes and new diets from nursing services
  • Assists in identifying, evaluating, and classifying dietary functions to ensure proper recording of potential exposure to blood/body fluids
  • Assists in planning the dietary services portion of the resident's discharge plan
  • Participates in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies
  • Interviews residents or family members to obtain diet history
  • Assists in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of food served
  • Ensures charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive
  • Ensures menus are maintained and filed according to established policies
  • Maintains liaison with families and residents as necessary
  • Visits residents periodically to evaluate meal quality and preferences
  • Involves residents/families in planning objectives and goals
  • Assists in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by physicians
  • Assists in developing diet plans for individual residents
  • Reviews therapeutic and regular diet plans for compliance with physician's orders
  • Reviews dietary requirements of each resident admitted to the facility
  • Ensures residents are offered a nourishing snack at bedtime
  • Makes daily rounds to ensure dietary personnel are performing required duties
  • Attends mandatory meetings and in-services
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or Dietitian

Requirements

  • Certified Dietary Manager certification
  • Experience in dietary management or related field
  • Knowledge of dietary regulations and standards
  • Ability to develop and implement dietary plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for various health conditions
  • Familiarity with dietary management software
