About the position
The Certified Dosimetrist position at Henry Ford Health St. John Hospital involves developing and administering radiation therapy treatment plans under the guidance of medical physicists and radiation oncologists. This full-time role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and is focused on ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to patients in the Oncology department.
Responsibilities
- Designs a treatment plan to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field to a defined tumor volume.
- Assists with or performs the application of specific methods of dosimetry, including intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures.
- Assists with or performs the fabrication of beam modifying devices and immobilization devices.
- Provides technical support for radiation protection procedures and qualitative machine calibrations of equipment.
- Maintains radiation safety for self, co-workers and patients in accordance with NRC guidelines.
- Assists physicist in the design and implementation of research activities and performs special projects related to dosimetry.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Medical Dosimetry, Math, or Physics required.
- Certificate or Master's degree program in medical dosimetry.
