About the position

As a Medical Assistant, you will play an essential role in the delivery of quality healthcare at PHC. In this role, you will be the shepherd of the care team, ensuring that the clinical day flows seamlessly for your patients and providers. Your day-to-day duties will include clinical care and administrative support as delegated by licensed clinical staff. Responsibilities

  • Documents patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Facilitates the patient rooming and intake process and obtains accurate patient vital signs per established workflow.
  • Performs point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines and other established workflows.
  • Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments per written or standing orders.
  • Performs lab and diagnostic testing per written orders, explains testing procedure and preparation, and reports test results per procedure.
  • Completes timely prior authorizations and referrals per established guidelines.
  • Answers and returns phone calls timely.
  • Prepares for exam/procedure and assists provider as requested.
  • Provides patient education appropriate to the patient's age and identified learning needs.
  • Collaborates with assigned Care Team by participating in team huddles and pre-visit planning for scheduled patients.
  • Completes and accurately documents quality controls per established process.
  • Performs pre-cleaning and transport of contaminated instruments per infection control policies and procedures.
  • Routinely evaluates supply levels in exam rooms, removing expired supplies and restocking as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration issued by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers Certification
  • Mandatory Reporter Certification (must be obtained within Introductory Period if not current)
