About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Bon Secours Medical Associates plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in collaboration with primary care physicians. This position involves managing patient records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms, all while ensuring compliance with medical assisting standards and state guidelines. The CMA is expected to provide excellent customer service and support the healthcare team in various clerical and clinical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
• Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
• Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
• Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Degree or GED
• Active Medical Assisting certification from an accredited body (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA)
• BLS Basic Life Support certification (required at hire for certain locations)
• One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred)
• Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred)
• Problem-solving skills and basic computer skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting
