About the position
The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the direction of a physician.
- Assist in the handling, transportation, access to, and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
- Function under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving.
- Work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Requirements
- Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
- One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
- No work experience required if a graduate of a medical assistant program.
- Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft and email.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Nice-to-haves
- Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Previous experience in an academic health care environment.
- Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study.
