About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Northeast Georgia Health System is primarily responsible for providing healthcare needs to assigned patients using the nursing process. This role includes performing office procedures related to patient care and managing front office duties to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial patient assessments and document findings.
  • Document nursing interventions and implement physicians' orders.
  • Establish immediate plans of care for patients in collaboration with physicians and document referrals.
  • Administer and document medication regimes accurately.
  • Implement infection control processes effectively.
  • Perform radiological or lab procedures as verified by credentials.
  • Provide radiation protection according to safety standards.
  • Document QA controls and maintenance on x-ray equipment.
  • Answer telephones and assist patients, triaging calls as necessary.
  • File patient charts and record daily visits and charges accurately.

Requirements

  • Active Registry or Certification as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) to two (2) years related experience preferred.
  • Experience as lab tech or with radiology equipment preferred.
