About the position

The Per Diem Certified Medical Assistant at Atlantic Urgent Care of Phillipsburg is responsible for providing both direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the supervision of a physician. This role involves collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure smooth practice operations and excellent patient care. The position requires flexibility in working hours, particularly on weekends, and involves a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Handles patient intake and updates medical records.
  • Administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Manages patient flow and rooms patients.
  • Takes vital signs and performs medication reconciliation.
  • Maintains and prepares exam rooms for patient visits.
  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, and collects specimens.
  • Administers medication under physician supervision.
  • Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensuring verification and recording of clinical data.
  • Guides patients through the healthcare system and helps them arrive at appointments on time.
  • Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms between visits.
  • Preps examination rooms, ensuring they are ready for patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification CCMA from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT, or a precertification agreement if certification is expired or pending within 60 days of employment.
  • Excellent communication skills and work ethic.
  • Active listening and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Professionalism at all times.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in healthcare services.
  • 2+ years of experience in outpatient, emergency department, or acute care settings.
  • BLS certification upon hire.
  • DOT Drug Collector Certification preferred.
  • Breath Alcohol Technician Certification preferred.
  • Post externship physician practice experience preferred.
  • Prior EMR physician practice experience a plus.
  • Experience with EPIC a plus.
  • Preferred emergency department experience.
