About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the OBGYN department at Henry Ford Genesys Ambulatory Health Services plays a crucial role in assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a provider. This position involves a combination of clinical and clerical duties, ensuring a smooth workflow in the healthcare setting while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assists with treatments ordered by the provider under supervision.
• Performs select clinical duties such as interviewing patients and measuring vital signs.
• Records information on patients' charts accurately.
• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Handles basic clerical duties including answering phones and maintaining records.
• Manages materials by ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment in the clinic.
• Documents the provider's encounters with patients, including diagnoses and follow-up instructions.
• Transcribes patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer required.
• Medical Assistant certification obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer required.
• High School diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience required.
