About the position
The Certified Medical Assistant at AdventHealth plays a crucial role in supporting patient care under the supervision of physicians and other healthcare providers. This position involves assisting with patient examinations, managing electronic health records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities
- Place patients in the examining room and ensure their comfort.
- Perform EHR intake entry, including medication lists and allergies.
- Obtain vital signs and enter information into the patient's electronic medical record.
- Assist physicians/providers with examinations and treatments.
- Support office surgeries by following sterile procedure guidelines.
- Set up procedure equipment and surgical instrument trays.
- Perform phlebotomy and laboratory tests as required.
- Review policies and procedures regarding CLIA Waived testing.
- Screen telephone calls for physicians/providers and take accurate clinical messages.
- Answer routine patient inquiries as directed by the physician/provider.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a vocational or technical school with training or apprenticeship.
- BLS/CPR certification is required.
- Certification as a medical assistant through a CMS recognized organization (AAMA or AMT).
