About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by assisting with office examinations and procedures, managing patient flow, and ensuring a high standard of patient care. Responsibilities

  • Assist the provider in performing office examinations and procedures.
  • Organize and manage clinic patient flow.
  • Gather and document patient screening data.
  • Perform in-office diagnostic testing such as X-rays and EKGs.
  • Assist with patient and family education.
  • Clean rooms and instruments, ensuring a sterile environment.
  • Order and distribute medical supplies as needed.
  • Schedule appointments and testing, triage phone calls and emails, and handle physician correspondence.
  • Manage insurance referrals and assist with routine office procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience as a medical assistant or in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
