About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA) at ArchWell Health plays a vital role in supporting primary care providers (PCPs) by ensuring efficient patient care and enhancing the overall patient experience. This position involves working closely with a clinical care team to deliver compassionate primary care, conduct patient assessments, and coordinate care with the broader healthcare system. The MA will also be responsible for performing routine diagnostic tests, managing patient communications, and providing health coaching to promote healthy lifestyle choices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake with patients, measuring and recording vital signs, patient interview, and medical history.
  • Perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring patients are informed and all questions and concerns are addressed for each procedure.
  • Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointments, reporting any changes in patient conditions to PCPs and specialists.
  • Process patient phone messages, return calls, and route calls to appropriate team members.
  • Call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures under physician supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation.
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients and follow up with them via weekly calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training required.
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • 6+ months' phlebotomy experience is highly desired.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
  • Experience with EClinical Works or similar EMR systems.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
