About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare delivery in a family medicine clinic. Under the supervision of a physician, the CMA is responsible for a variety of patient care activities, including maintaining clinical records, administering medications, and assisting with examinations. This full-time position requires flexibility in working hours within the clinic's operational schedule, which runs Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Helps in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and cleans rooms after procedures.
  • Accompanies patients from the waiting room and prepares them for examination.
  • Interviews patients and records or inputs information into patients' medical records.
  • Measures, collects, and records patients' vital signs and prepares them for examinations and tests.
  • Performs routine patient testing, acquires and processes electrocardiograms, and collects blood and urine samples.
  • Prepares and administers routine medications and injections as directed by the physician.
  • Removes sutures and staples and changes dressings as requested.

Requirements

  • Medical assistant certification from an accredited program (AAMA or AMT).
  • Knowledge of safe and accurate medical administration standards.
  • Ability to accurately document patient information according to policies and regulations.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to observe and report on patients' physical conditions.
  • Ability to give injections and draw blood.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent bedside manner and ability to reassure patients.
  • Ability to follow instructions from a physician.
  • Familiarity with medical charts and records.
  • High attention to detail.
