About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant at AccessHealth Community Health Center plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This position involves direct patient interaction, assisting with examinations, maintaining medical records, and ensuring the clinic environment is clean and well-stocked. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player dedicated to improving community health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Directs patients to the available exam room.
  • Records patients' chief complaints regarding the reason for the clinic visit.
  • Obtains and records vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Assists providers with examination and treatments as directed.
  • Performs waived lab tests and/or assists with procedures as directed by provider.
  • May assist with translation as needed, including verbal and written.
  • Obtains needed supplies and shared equipment as requested by provider.
  • Ensures rooms are stocked and prepared for patient visits.
  • Discharges patients and provides information as defined by the provider.
  • Schedules appointments as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy duties as required by clinic site or as necessary.
  • Ensures all areas of the clinic are clean and orderly.
  • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Participates in the cleaning, packaging, and autoclaving of instruments as assigned.
  • Prepares reminder cards.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification credentials for Medical Assistant.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year work experience, preferably in the health field.
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Well-organized and self-directed.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Phlebotomy preferred, but not required.
  • Bilingual ability preferred, but not required.
