About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant Float position at Baylor Scott & White Health involves assisting in the delivery of healthcare under the direction of a physician. This role requires performing a variety of patient care activities, including maintaining clinical records, administering medications, and taking vital signs. The position is full-time, scheduled for weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM, and requires travel to various clinics within the designated local region.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a float pool resource to various clinics within designated, local region.
  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and cleans rooms after procedures.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment, restocks supplies, and assists with inventory levels.
  • Accompanies patients from the waiting room and prepares them for examination.
  • Interviews patients and records or inputs information into the patient's medical record.
  • Measures, collects, and records patient's vital signs and prepares patients for examinations and tests.
  • Performs routine patient testing, acquires and processes electrocardiograms, and collects blood specimens and urine samples.
  • Prepares and administers routine medications, injections, and vaccinations as directed by the physician.
  • Performs administrative duties such as answering telephones, taking messages, and scheduling patient appointments.
  • Facilitates or leads huddles and various team meetings, managing process workflow and/or staff schedules.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Medical assistant certification from an accredited program (e.g., AAMA, AMT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of principles of safe and accurate medical administration.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology.
  • Ability to accurately document patient information and make observations of patient conditions.

  • High attention to detail.
