About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant at Moffitt Cancer Center plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team by assisting with patient care, managing patient flow, and ensuring a comfortable environment for patients. This position is integral to the clinic's operations, contributing to the overall mission of cancer prevention and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with ambulation and movement on/off exam tables and wheelchairs using proper safety measures.
• Performs initial patient screening, including vital signs and medication history, and documents data accurately in medical records.
• Ensures smooth clinic patient flow and communicates effectively with patients and clinical team members.
• Assists practitioners during procedures, including room preparation and patient positioning.
• Maintains aseptic techniques and universal precautions during clinical duties.
• Provides support to providers by assisting with phone calls and faxes during clinic hours.
• Recognizes emergency situations and implements emergency procedures, including administering first aid and CPR.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• CMA certification required for Certified Medical Assistant level.
• 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting for Clinical Assistant level.
• 2 years of Medical Assistant experience required for Certified Medical Assistant II level.
