AccessHealth Community Health Center is seeking a dedicated and talented Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. As a not-for-profit community health center established in 1975, we are committed to providing integrated health care services that enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve. The role involves assisting licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), registered nurses (RNs), or providers with the routine activities of the clinic, ensuring that all procedures are conducted with the utmost care and adherence to universal precautions. The Certified Medical Assistant will be expected to work in various locations within AccessHealth facilities, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to patient care. The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the possibility of working before or after these hours, as well as optional Saturday shifts from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The pay range for this role is between $18.00 and $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The Certified Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and support throughout their visit to the clinic. This includes directing patients to exam rooms, recording vital signs, assisting with examinations and treatments, and maintaining accurate and confidential records. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a high level of organization, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Directs patients to the available exam room.
  • Records patients' chief complaints regarding the reason for the clinic visit.
  • Obtains and records vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Assists providers with examination and treatments as directed.
  • Performs waived lab tests and/or assists with procedures as directed by provider.
  • May assist with translation as needed, including verbal and written.
  • Obtains needed supplies and shared equipment as requested by provider.
  • Ensures rooms are stocked and prepared for patient visits.
  • Assists with maintaining and ordering medical supplies as assigned.
  • Discharges patients and provides them with information as defined by the provider.
  • Schedules appointments as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy duties as required by clinic site or as necessary.
  • Ensures all areas of the clinic are clean and orderly.
  • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Participates in the cleaning, packaging, and autoclaving of instruments as assigned.
  • Prepares reminder cards.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification credentials for Medical Assistant.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy preferred, but not required.
  • One year work experience, preferably in the health field.
  • Bilingual ability preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Well-organized and self-directed.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
