About the position
The Certified Medication Aid (CMA) at PruittHealth is responsible for assisting residents with their medications as prescribed by licensed healthcare providers. This role involves medication reminders, assistance with self-administration, and administration of medications in compliance with state and federal laws. The CMA serves as a key communicator with pharmacies, healthcare providers, and families regarding medication management, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with medications ordered by licensed healthcare providers.
- Provide medication reminders and assistance with self-administration of medications.
- Administer medications as allowed by state and federal laws.
- Communicate with the resident's pharmacy, healthcare provider, and family regarding medication management.
- Stay current on assisted living policies and procedures regarding medication management.
- Follow the Six Rights of Medication Administration.
- Identify concerns related to medication orders and take appropriate actions.
- Monitor resident's medication quantities and arrange timely procurement of refills.
- Document assistance/administration and resident refusal of medications according to policy.
- Report and document any medication errors and resident changes in condition.
Requirements
- Some high school education required.
- CPR certification is mandatory.
- Medication Tech certification is required.
Nice-to-haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous medication tech experience preferred.
- Experience with long-term care or assisted living population preferred.
