Certified Midwife - OB/GYN - Bellevue - 4, 8 and 12 hr Shifts

About the position

The Certified Midwife position at NYU Langone Health involves providing comprehensive midwifery care in the OB/GYN department at Bellevue Hospital. The role includes working closely with specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine and General Obstetrics and Gynecology, focusing on high-risk pregnancies and ensuring quality patient care through clinical competence and effective communication. The midwife will also participate in teaching and administrative functions, contributing to the growth and expansion of the midwifery practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered midwifery care to patients in a group practice setting.
• Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations and record medical information in electronic medical records.
• Provide accurate and sensitive patient counseling and follow-up care.
• Work closely with the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division for high-risk pregnancies.
• Participate in the backup call system for weekend coverage, a minimum of 4 weekends per year.
• Participate in teaching midwifery students, medical students, and House Staff.
• Engage in data collection and quality assurance activities.
• Maintain credentials at all appropriate facilities and participate in committee work.

Requirements

• NYS Midwife license required.
• 1-3 years of clinical experience in midwifery.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience in a labor and delivery suite or high-risk pregnancy practice.
• Experience in contraception, well-woman care, and menstrual irregularities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
