About the position
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position at Extendicare Health and Rehab involves providing essential daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with their individual care plans. The role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of residents, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing nursing care to residents including activities of daily living such as bathing, eating, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide and document medication assistance as directed.
- Assist residents in preparing for medical testing, activities programs, and visitation.
- Maintain residents' living areas clean and neat, and change linens as directed.
- Greet newly admitted residents and escort them to their rooms.
- Report changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse immediately.
- Check each resident routinely to ensure personal care needs are met.
- Assist in transporting residents to/from appointments and activities.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents as necessary.
- Obtain and record residents' blood sugar using the Free Style Glucose Monitoring machine.
- Utilize Smart Charting IPAC to record selected ADLs and meals.
- Complete incident reports in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or obtain certification within 4 months of hire.
- CNA experience preferred.
