About The Position

Maine Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Surgical/Medical Telemetry unit (R9) in Portland, ME. This part-time position requires 24 hours of work per week, with shifts primarily during the day and weekends required. The unit is a 24-bed acute care medical surgical unit with medical telemetry capabilities, caring for a variety of adults with acute and chronic medical conditions. The role involves training with the Float Pool and performing various service duties and technical tasks under the supervision of Registered Professional Nurses. Responsibilities include taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. The position requires consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Current applicable state(s) license as a Certified Nursing Assistant required.
  • Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
  • CNA experience of 0-6 months; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Perform a variety of direct and indirect care duties.
  • Take vital signs and assist patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living.
