About the position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Carthage Healthcare Center plays a crucial role in providing direct care to residents under the supervision of nursing staff. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a supportive environment. The CNA is integral to the rehabilitation and long-term care services offered by the facility, contributing to both resident well-being and the overall success of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and changing of bed linens.
  • Assist with resident activity programs.
  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks.
  • Assist residents in eating when needed and record food intake.
  • Read and follow daily care plans, perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures, report changes in condition to charge nurse, document care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required and report accidents and incidents.
  • Follow safety and sanitation rules and promptly report any injuries or violations to supervisor.
  • Understand, comply with, and promote all regulations and policies regarding resident rights and promote peer compliance of stated regulations and policies.
  • Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and government regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Serve as a Transportation Aide when fully trained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with the State.
  • Preferably one year of experience with the company.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Ability to relate positively to residents, family members, employees, nursing, and facility management.
  • Must comply with company Time and Attendance Policies.
  • Physical and sensory requirements include walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to read and write, and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Must meet all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
