About the position

American Lutheran Homes is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide essential care and support to residents and clients. The role involves monitoring health and behavior, maintaining confidentiality, and assisting with daily living activities. The CNA will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure the well-being of residents while adhering to established care plans and regulations governing long-term care.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record health and behavior of residents and clients, communicating information with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and client records, including identity, behavior, and medical conditions.
  • Know and follow individual care plans for residents and clients.
  • Understand and implement emergency and evacuation procedures for the facility.
  • Attend required orientation and training, maintaining current CNA certification.
  • Familiarize with the Policy and Procedure Manual and implement its contents as needed.
  • Prepare meals and provide snacks for residents.
  • Use materials, food, and supplies resourcefully, reporting needed items to the Director.
  • Assist in household and housekeeping duties, including inventory and storage of supplies.
  • Clean resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and furniture according to job standards.
  • Follow proper infection control procedures and guidelines when using tools and handling chemicals.
  • Conduct and assist with assigned activity groups and interact in one-on-one activities with residents.
  • Observe and report behavioral changes in residents and provide input for activity planning.
  • Escort residents to and from activities and project a positive image of the organization.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Ability to monitor and record health and behavior of residents.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing long-term care.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with residents and team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in long-term care settings.
  • Familiarity with infection control procedures.
  • Ability to assist with activity planning and scheduling.
