About the position
The Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide (CNA/HHA) position at ChristianaCare Home Health involves providing compassionate, one-on-one care to patients in their homes. The role is part of the Community Health Service team, working under the supervision of registered nurses and therapists to implement the client's Plan of Care. The CNA/HHA will assist with personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and support patients in achieving their health goals.
Responsibilities
- Follow the Plan of Care developed by RN/Therapist.
- Adhere to infection control policies and HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide personal care, light housekeeping, and meal preparation as outlined in the Plan of Care.
- Accompany patients to physician appointments or clinics.
- Assist with simple exercise programs, application of prosthesis and braces, ambulation, and transfers as outlined.
- Encourage patient independence and support them in achieving their goals established by professional staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of CNA or Home Health Aide training program of 75 hours or greater.
- Proof of a training competency evaluation program or completion of a renewal course if there has been a 24-month or greater gap in work as an aide.
- Ability to work independently in a client's home.
- Empathetic attitude toward the care of the sick.
- Effective communication skills, including reading, writing, and following directions.
