The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Mary Free Bed plays a crucial role in providing routine personal care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The CNA is responsible for performing basic patient care duties, which include assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patient conditions, and reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff. In addition to direct patient care, the CNA is expected to participate in the overall functioning of the unit by completing assigned tasks accurately and efficiently. The CNA may also have the opportunity to act as a preceptor for new staff, sharing knowledge and skills to enhance the team's effectiveness. Responsibilities

• Perform routine basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration.
• Assist licensed personnel in the delivery of patient care.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient and unit environment.
• Report observations to the team leaders, including patient complaints and behavior.
• Participate in patient care conferences, staff meetings, and nursing committees.
• Follow documented policy and procedure in the delivery of patient care.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behavior.
• Contribute to quality improvement by identifying problems and seeking solutions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Registry on the board of nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an AHA approved provider.
• Understanding of basic principles of human growth and development.
• Reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
