About the position

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). This role is essential in ensuring that patients receive appropriate therapy services in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. The COTA is responsible for implementing treatment plans, maintaining professional relationships, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed OT.
  • Follow occupational treatment plans as directed by the supervising OT.
  • Chart patient progress appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Utilize therapy software accurately for patient documentation.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary.
  • Demonstrate dependable and regular attendance at work.
  • Communicate effectively and function productively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certified upon hire, with optional renewal thereafter.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in the applicable state, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • One year of experience in post-acute care or a related setting preferred.
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation, with current certification maintained during employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in post-acute care settings.
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures in post-acute care facilities.
