About the position
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) at Life Care Center of Columbia SC provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role is essential in implementing treatment plans, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining professional standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Follow occupational treatment plans for patients as directed by the supervising OT.
- Chart patient progress appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Utilize therapy software accurately for patient documentation.
- Exhibit excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients.
- Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary.
- Demonstrate dependable and regular attendance at work.
- Communicate effectively and function productively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information.
Requirements
- NBCOT certified upon hire, with optional renewal thereafter.
- Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT).
- Currently registered/licensed in the applicable State, with an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- One (1) year experience in post-acute care or a related setting preferred.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation, with current certification maintained during employment.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures in post-acute care facilities.
