The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission provides essential occupational therapy services to patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This part-time role involves executing treatment plans, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care. The position emphasizes professional conduct, effective communication, and adherence to hospital standards while promoting patient dignity and privacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services to patients under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
• Carry out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist in a professional manner.
• Complete timely and thorough documentation of patient treatments.
• Communicate with physicians, families, and rehabilitation team members regarding patient status reports.
• Educate patients and/or their families in self-care, prevention, body mechanics, lifestyle adaptation, posture, and ergonomics.
• Participate in patient care conferences and rehabilitation team meetings.
• Maintain a professional team relationship with co-workers and assist with duties as needed.
• Demonstrate punctuality and good attendance for scheduled work hours and meetings.
• Utilize modalities and procedures with knowledge of contraindications related to age and diagnosis.
• Report any equipment or maintenance problems to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or Graduate of a Technical School.
• Kansas License-Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 to 5 years of position-related experience.
