About the position

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at Step Up Rehab plays a crucial role in delivering rehabilitative care to residents in a modern skilled nursing facility. This position focuses on supporting the occupational therapy team to help residents achieve their rehabilitation goals in a nurturing and collaborative environment. The role emphasizes professional growth and the importance of work-life balance, ensuring that staff can provide quality care without feeling overwhelmed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide essential support to the occupational therapy team.
  • Assist residents in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff.
  • Ensure patient safety during treatment by being aware of potential hazards.
  • Utilize therapeutic knowledge and technical training in occupational therapy practices.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed an accredited occupational therapy assistant program recognized by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.
  • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the state of Florida.
  • Prior experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant is required; experience in skilled nursing facilities (SNF) is preferred.
  • Strong administrative and public relations skills to foster effective relationships with patients and colleagues.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in occupational therapy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Membership in state and national American Occupational Therapy Associations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and third-party reimbursement; experience with Net Health is a plus.
  • Training in the use of prescriptive devices (e.g., electrical stimulation, ultrasound) is preferred.
