About the position
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at Step Up Rehab plays a crucial role in delivering rehabilitative care to residents in a modern skilled nursing facility. This position focuses on supporting the occupational therapy team to help residents achieve their rehabilitation goals in a nurturing and collaborative environment. Responsibilities
- Provide essential support to the occupational therapy team.
- Assist residents in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
- Maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff.
- Ensure patient safety during treatment by being aware of potential hazards.
- Utilize therapeutic knowledge and technical training in occupational therapy practices.
Requirements
- Successfully completed an accredited occupational therapy assistant program recognized by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.
- Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the state of Florida.
- Prior experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant is required; experience in skilled nursing facilities (SNF) is preferred.
- Strong administrative and public relations skills to foster effective relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Thorough understanding of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in occupational therapy.
Nice-to-haves
- Membership in state and national American Occupational Therapy Associations is a plus.
- Knowledge of Medicare and third-party reimbursement; experience with Net Health is a plus.
- Training in the use of prescriptive devices (e.g., electrical stimulation, ultrasound) is preferred.
