About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to join our growing firm, which focuses on high-end business and employment litigation and counseling. This role involves assisting attorneys in various legal matters, including litigation and trial preparation, while offering flexible working schedules and remote work options.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and manage legal documents related to civil litigation (including employment litigation).
  • Conduct document reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Assist with coordinating and preparing discovery requests and responses.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including preparing required trial documents (i.e., jury instructions, witness information, trial summaries).
  • Utilize Westlaw and Clio for case management, research, and documentation.
  • Assist attorneys with administrative tasks including scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and managing correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain electronic filing systems for easy access to legal documents.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information for cases.
  • Perform legal research as required to support ongoing cases.
  • Perform summary of legal documents, including discovery responses, deposition transcripts, and other pertinent records (including medical records).
  • Assist with drafting and issuing/responding to subpoenas.
  • Support the firm's attorneys in all legal-related aspects.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Paralegal or in a similar role within a law firm or legal department.
  • Familiarity with document management systems and administrative processes in a legal context.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
  • Knowledge of and experience in civil litigation.
  • Knowledge and experience with civil employment litigation (defense side) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using Westlaw and similar legal software is preferred.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
