About the position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in Castroville, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a keen eye for accuracy. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks, including payroll processing, and will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Accounting Clerk will prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial records, including accounts receivable and payable, cash management, and payroll processing. This role involves performing credit analysis to ensure that all transactions are properly authorized and documented, as well as conducting account analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies and errors. The successful candidate will manage and reconcile financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for cost savings and improvement. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Clerk will provide support and assistance to other accounting team members as needed, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to all relevant accounting and financial regulations. Ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards and requirements is also a critical aspect of this role. The position is full-time, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, and may require working on weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial records, including accounts receivable and payable, cash management, and payroll processing.
  • Perform credit analysis to ensure that all transactions are properly authorized and documented.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies and errors.
  • Manage and reconcile financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for cost savings and improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including Ceridian.
  • Experience with double-entry bookkeeping, accounts receivable, and credit analysis.
  • Strong understanding of debits and credits and their application in financial statements.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and timely financial records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have experience working with the Department of Industrial Relations, Public Works, Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with QuickBooks (1 year preferred).
