Powell Constructors Inc, a well-established heavy highway construction and infrastructure company, is seeking a dedicated Labor Compliance Administrator to join our team. As a Labor Compliance Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing and submitting weekly certified payroll reports for self-performed work, monitoring and tracking subcontractors' certified payroll reports, and maintaining a thorough understanding of prevailing wages, union crafts, and fringe benefits. You will also be responsible for communicating with the California Department of Industrial Relations (CA DIR) and other agencies to ensure compliance, assisting subcontractors with corrective actions for any non-compliance issues, and staying current with Master Labor Agreements and rates. In addition to these essential functions, you will review various compliance documents for accuracy, including DAS 140, DAS 142, certified payroll registers, statements of compliance, and fringe benefit statements. The role also requires you to provide backup support to the administrative assistant, manage filing and record-keeping, and demonstrate effective communication, time management, and multitasking abilities. Punctuality, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Review and submit weekly certified payroll reports for self-performed work
  • Monitor and track subcontractors' certified payroll reports
  • Understand prevailing wages, union crafts, and fringe benefits
  • Communicate with CA DIR and/or other agencies for compliance
  • Assist subcontractors with corrective actions for non-compliance issues
  • Understand and keep current with Master Labor Agreements and rates
  • Review for accuracy DAS 140, DAS 142, certified payroll register, statement of compliance, and fringe benefit statements
  • Provide backup support to the administrative assistant for answering calls and walk-ins
  • Manage filing and recording accordingly

Requirements

  • 1-2 years previous experience with certified payroll in the construction industry
  • LCP tracker proficiency required
  • Basic knowledge of California and Federal Labor laws
  • Caltrans experience preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the construction industry for 1 year (preferred)
