About the position

The Certified Payroll Specialist at Swinerton is responsible for ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws and labor requirements across various projects. This role involves monitoring certified payroll, conducting audits, and collaborating with project teams to maintain compliance with labor regulations. The specialist will also provide training, develop risk assessments, and maintain relationships with stakeholders to support labor compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor certified payroll for internal and external projects.
  • Ensure labor compliance company-wide.
  • Review public and private contracts for labor requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits on projects for compliance.
  • Develop risk assessments for compliance programs.
  • Stay updated on applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in third-party audits and inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain relationships with stakeholders and contractors.
  • Conduct labor compliance training for stakeholders and contractors.
  • Review and verify payroll records and related documentation.
  • Issue requests for missing documentation and follow up with contractors.
  • Utilize compliance monitoring software to review payroll documents.
  • Compile information for third-party requests for information.
  • Compose letters requesting payments and follow up with requestors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years experience with Public Works Labor Compliance Programs or Project Labor Agreements.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • Experience with prevailing wage enforcement and auditing skills.
  • Knowledge of employment practices in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of state labor regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and strategically.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and spreadsheet applications.
