About the position

The Certified Payroll Specialist role at Robert Half is essential for maintaining payroll compliance and ensuring efficient payroll operations. This position involves managing multi-state payroll issues, particularly focusing on prevailing wage laws, and requires a strong understanding of federal and state regulations. The specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance through audits and collaboration with various personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage certified payroll audits and payroll compliance reporting
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws, including certified payroll reporting and documentation
• Collaborate with internal and external personnel to maintain compliance on all company projects
• Process and manage payroll functions as required
• Utilize knowledge of the Davis Bacon Act of 1931 to ensure compliance
• Use Accounting Software Systems for managing and processing payroll
• Perform general ledger entries related to payroll
• Support in the management of workers compensation, including uploading numbers to the workers comp system
• Handle multi-state payroll processing, with a focus on California payroll
• Assist in the regular payroll processing as a backup when necessary.

Requirements

• Must hold a certification as a Payroll Specialist
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Demonstrable knowledge of various Accounting Functions
• Experience in Auditing
• Familiarity with the Davis Bacon Act of 1931
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
