About the position

The Certified Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation and submission of certified payroll reports on a weekly basis, ensuring compliance with various regulations and maintaining accurate records. This role involves coordinating with different regions on projects requiring certified payrolls, resolving reporting issues, and staying updated on wage and hour laws.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports weekly.
• Collect worker classification information and prevailing/fringe rates for employees.
• Coordinate with regions on projects requiring certified payrolls.
• Resolve issues with reporting submissions for clients.
• Run hours worked reports from Workday for timely filing.
• Maintain a Certified Payroll log.
• Communicate the status of certified payrolls to each region.
• Stay current with rules, regulations, and wage laws.

Requirements

• 3+ years of related experience in a large organization or multi-state employer.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPS).
• Experience filing certified payrolls and understanding prevailing wages (Davis Bacon Act).
• Knowledge of union trades, memberships, job classifications, and union rates.
