The Certified Payroll Specialist at Sebastian Corp is responsible for managing and submitting certified payroll to the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and ensuring compliance with labor laws and prevailing wage regulations. This role involves communication with subcontractors and project management to resolve inquiries related to certified payroll, maintaining accurate records, and providing support in payroll-related matters. Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and submits all Certified Payroll to the DIR and partnering contractors.
  • Ensures compliance with labor laws and prevailing wage regulations.
  • Corresponds with subcontractors and project management team to support inquiries or issues with Certified Payroll.
  • Maintains internal record of subcontractor documents.
  • Cross trains on prevailing wage weekly payroll and serves as backup when needed.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding wages, deductions, and other certified payroll related matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of ongoing changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensures prevailing wage schedules are accurate.
  • Responsible for apprentice tracking and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Payroll Principles and compliance requirements.
  • 2-5 years of certified payroll administration experience preferred.
  • Industry-specific experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • Proficient in Spectrum (Trimble) Payroll System preferred.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to type 45 WPM and use a ten key calculator by touch.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Must comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
  • Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
