About the position

The Certified Payroll Specialist at BAUER Foundation Corp. is responsible for ensuring compliance with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements across various projects. This role involves processing payroll in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as customer contracts. The specialist will support the payroll function and coordinate with project managers and compliance officers to ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws and contractual obligations related to certified payroll.
  • Review job startup packages for certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers and compliance officers to ensure timely submission of job and subcontractor paperwork.
  • Calculate prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits in a multi-location environment.
  • Submit compliance documentation to Labor Compliance Programs or similar payroll tracking systems.
  • Perform payroll reporting, filing, maintenance, and data entry of compliance-related documentation.
  • Analyze current certified payroll policies and recommend best practices for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with research of federal, state, and contract-specific requirements for bid preparations.
  • Manage Department of Labor and client certified payroll audits.
  • Support and back-up the payroll function.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a multi-state, prevailing wage rate, and certified payroll environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent experience considered.
  • CPP/FPC certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal (Davis-Bacon Act) and State prevailing wage laws.
  • Above average skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable attention to detail and commitment to quality of work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity.
