The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) at The Providence Center plays a crucial role in providing peer support services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI). This position is designed for individuals who have lived experience and can share their recovery journey to inspire and assist others in their recovery process. The CPS serves as a consumer advocate, offering both written and experiential information to promote recovery and empower clients to regain control over their lives. The CPS will work closely with multidisciplinary Integrated Health Home (IHH) treatment teams to identify and address barriers that consumers face in achieving their personal goals and objectives. In this role, the CPS will mentor clients, providing recovery-based coaching tailored to each individual's health and wellness journey. This includes individualized health coaching to help clients meet their health objectives, managing both mental and physical health, and making informed choices. The CPS will also create and adapt wellness objectives based on the unique needs of clients, co-facilitate groups and classes aimed at improving health outcomes, and engage clients in therapy and other wellness services. The CPS is responsible for maintaining professional standards, completing tracking and reporting requirements, and providing self-help recovery services such as WRAP and Pathways to Recovery. The position requires a strong commitment to consumer engagement and advocacy, ensuring that clients are connected to appropriate services and resources. The CPS will coordinate with IHH teams to expand the reach of wellness-focused peer specialist services, ultimately fostering a supportive environment that promotes recovery and well-being for all clients.
