About the position

The Certified Peer Specialist position at Avita Community Partners is a full-time role that involves providing essential support and rehabilitation services to clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. This position requires a blend of clinical skills and personal experience to effectively assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver treatment and support services under the supervision of the team leader and psychiatrist. The role emphasizes advocacy for clients, utilizing tools such as the WRAP workbook to teach coping skills and help clients create their own personalized toolboxes for managing their mental health. In this position, the Certified Peer Specialist will work closely with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMPI), providing guidance and support in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include conducting group counseling sessions, assisting clients in accessing community resources, and potentially transporting clients as needed. The role also includes rotating on-call duties, which come with an additional salary incentive. This position is crucial in fostering a supportive environment for clients, helping them navigate their recovery journey effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide treatment and rehabilitation services to clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
  • Advocate for clients and assist them in utilizing the WRAP workbook.

Requirements

  • Must have certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS)/CARES in the state of Georgia.
