About the position

The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) position at Middle Flint Health & Wellness involves providing peer support services to individuals with mental health and substance use challenges. The CPS acts as a consumer advocate, helping clients navigate their recovery and wellness processes while modeling recovery competencies. This role includes attending educational sessions, transporting clients, and collaborating with other staff to create personalized wellness plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support services to individuals in various settings.
  • Serve as a consumer advocate and provide consumer information.
  • Assist individuals in living their own lives and directing their recovery process.
  • Model competency in recovery and wellness.
  • Develop and share recovery-oriented materials with other CPSs.
  • Attend continuing education sessions and relevant seminars.
  • Transport individuals served as required.
  • Assist with coordination of services and community integration activities.
  • Support individuals in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness.
  • Collect data for documenting case history and treatment.

Requirements

  • Valid CPS certification.
  • Valid, unrestricted Georgia Driver's License.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Keyboard proficiency.
  • Experience in social services or mental health.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Service, Public Health, or Behavioral Health Sciences.
  • Master's Degree in Social Services, Psychology, or Counseling.
