About the position

The Peer Recovery Coach at Transcendence Recovery provides essential support and guidance to individuals recovering from substance use disorders or mental health challenges. This role leverages personal recovery experiences to offer empathy, mentorship, and resources, collaborating with healthcare providers to promote clients' mental wellness and recovery goals. The position aims to enhance clients' self-efficacy and resilience, guiding them toward sustainable recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, non-judgmental peer support to individuals in recovery, sharing relevant personal experiences and offering a positive example of recovery.
  • Help clients connect to resources, including treatment programs, support groups, housing assistance, employment opportunities, and other services that support recovery.
  • Work with clients to set and achieve personalized recovery goals, offering guidance on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and self-care.
  • Conduct group coaching sessions to support clients in achieving goals and learning new skills in recovery such as coping skills, relapse prevention, mindfulness, meal prepping, and healthy relationships.
  • Educate clients about their rights and available resources, advocating for them within healthcare settings to ensure their needs are addressed respectfully and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, assessments, and progress, reporting client progress and challenges to supervisors or case managers as needed.
  • Participate in outreach activities, workshops, or community events to engage clients and educate the community about recovery support.

Requirements

  • Must have personal experience in mental health or substance use recovery and be at least one year in recovery.
  • Colorado Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) certification or equivalent preferred, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in psychology, social work, or behavioral health is a plus.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and motivate individuals facing challenges.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support networks.
  • Sensitivity to issues related to substance use, mental health, and trauma.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional education in psychology, social work, or behavioral health is a plus.
