About the position

The Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) role is designed for individuals who are committed to supporting others on their recovery journey. This position emphasizes personal growth and independence, providing peer support and advocacy to clients in the community. The CPSS will serve as a role model, utilizing their own recovery experiences to inspire hope and encourage self-determination among clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hope, encouragement, and support to clients in their recovery journey.
  • Assist clients in daily decision-making and problem resolution.
  • Support clients in finding resources and following through with proposed solutions.
  • Engage clients in developing healthy relationships through social activities.
  • Accompany clients to meetings and advocate for their needs in community groups.
  • Lead recovery dialogues and self-help sessions with clients.
  • Help clients identify and respond to triggers that may lead to functional impairments.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must possess a Peer Support Specialist certification from the state of North Carolina.
  • Demonstrate maturity in personal recovery process.
  • Moderate computer skills are required.

  • Experience in mentoring or providing peer support.
