The Certified Pharmacy Technician at TriStar Horizon Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy department's daily operations. In addition to technical skills, the Certified Pharmacy Technician is expected to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers. This includes maintaining a positive work environment and promoting teamwork among colleagues. The technician will participate in Performance Improvement activities to ensure continuous quality improvement within the department. Responsibilities

  • Assist Pharmacists in daily activities related to department workflow.
  • Procure, prepare, deliver, return, and restock medications.
  • Maintain the ability to use all equipment and technology necessary for job responsibilities.
  • Facilitate exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Maintain cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Promote a supportive, team-work oriented environment.
  • Fulfill departmental responsibilities in alignment with the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of TriStar Horizon.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general pharmacy practices and procedures.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Registration with the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required.
  • Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with coworkers, vendors, and other hospital staff in all situations.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA) within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB or NHA) within 90 days of hire.
  • Must perform all competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor, or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, or Licensed Pharmacy Technician must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
