About the position

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Prisma Health, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy team under the direction of a pharmacist. Your primary responsibilities will include performing pharmacy-related functions in compliance with departmental policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical care for patients. You will be an integral part of the pharmacy team, contributing to an efficient work environment and actively participating in the development of clinical, departmental, and independent leadership skills annually. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency in the pharmacy setting. In this role, you will be responsible for answering telephone calls promptly, screening and prioritizing requests, and assisting customers at the pharmacy window. You will also be tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy, ensuring that all facilities and equipment are in optimal condition to promote health and safety for both patients and staff. Your ability to adjust priorities based on changing work demands will be essential in this fast-paced environment. You will assist in interpreting, clarifying, and entering medication orders into the pharmacy computer system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with pharmacy protocols. This includes accepting verbal non-controlled prescription orders, entering patient demographic and clinical information, and generating labels and patient education materials as needed. Collaboration with pharmacists, nurses, and physicians will be key to ensuring that all medications and supplies are provided for patient care. Filling, labeling, and packaging medications accurately will be a significant part of your daily tasks. You will also handle out-window operations, ensuring that patient interactions are positive and that all identification and counseling requirements are met. Training new personnel and maintaining inventory levels will further contribute to the smooth operation of the pharmacy. Overall, this position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work effectively in a team environment while providing exceptional service to patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone calls in a timely manner and screen and prioritize requests.

Requirements

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certification required.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Basic problem-solving skills for pharmacy software and operational activities.
