About the position

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in assisting the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. If you are PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers. Your role is essential in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging with customers and patients, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure satisfaction. In addition to customer engagement, you will be responsible for various operational tasks. Under the supervision of the pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and checking for possible interactions. You will also report any prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing. Your duties will include handling cash transactions, processing manual claims for third-party prescription services, and assisting with inventory management activities. You may also assist in administering clinical services and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community. Your role will also involve ongoing training and personal development. You will be required to earn and maintain PTCB certification and attend training sessions to acquire continuing education credits. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Enter patient and drug information accurately into pharmacy systems.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Verify that the medicine is correct and check for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
• PTCB certification is preferred.
