About the position
Compassionate Care, Inc. is seeking a Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CPMA) to join our small adult primary care practice in Lincoln, RI. This part-time remote role involves reviewing and auditing medical records with a focus on evaluation and management services to enhance clinical documentation and optimize reimbursement. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge of professional fee coding and be a reliable resource for coding guidelines and inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Review and audit medical records focusing on evaluation and management services.
- Identify opportunities for clinical documentation improvement and coding optimization.
- Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of professional fee coding in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for coding guidelines and related inquiries.
Requirements
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
- 5 years of experience in CPT coding required.
- 5 years of experience in HCPCS Level II coding required.
- High-level knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology.
- Expertise in evaluation and management coding and auditing.
- Knowledge of current coding regulations and guidelines.
- Proficient with technology and software tools, including eClinicalWorks EMR.
Nice-to-haves
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred.
- Certified Professional Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC) preferred.
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) preferred.
