About the position

The Certified Prosthetist Orthotist or Orthotist Clinician at Hanger Clinic in Lansing, MI, is responsible for providing comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care to patients. This role involves assessing patient needs, formulating treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes. The clinician will leverage their clinical expertise and innovative technologies to improve patient mobility and quality of life, while also participating in practice management and mentoring new clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians in evaluating patient needs for prosthetic and/or orthotic services.
  • Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate designs for prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Select materials, make cast measurements, and perform model modifications.
  • Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Evaluate and adjust prosthetic and/or orthotic devices for fit and function.
  • Instruct patients on the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Identify and resolve issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Provide follow-up care with patients and physicians.
  • Conduct in-service training for physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Utilize materials management and quality processes to maximize device quality.
  • Meet with referral sources to enhance business relationships and secure referrals.
  • Plan and implement strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Document detailed clinical notes in patient records.
  • Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians as needed.
  • Assist other clinical staff and provide information for reimbursement activities.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and compliance with governmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO, CO, CP) or Board Eligible status.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong clinical and technical skills in prosthetics and orthotics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting with prosthetic and orthotic devices.
  • Familiarity with innovative technologies in the field.
  • Previous mentoring or training experience.
